C114 News July 1 News The "GTI International Industry Summit 2020" with the theme "The 5G For All" officially kicked off today.
As an important part of the summit, GTI officially launched the 5G Global Terminal Initiative, jointly promoting the maturity of 5G multi-mode and multi-frequency terminals with the global industry, laying the foundation for 5G global roaming and scale development.
In the current 5G global scale commercial stage, it is very important to promote the accelerated maturity of 5G multi-mode and multi-band terminals, which will help achieve global roaming and economies of scale.
According to the content of the initiative, GTI will promote 5G GSM terminals to support multi-mode and multi-frequency, including 700MHz, 2.3GHz, 2.6GHz, 3.5GHz, 4.9GHz frequency bands, NSA/SA dual-mode, and 5G messages, to achieve 5G terminal scale development and global roaming. In terms of timetable, the prototype of 5G GSM terminal will be released in June 2020, and the commercial terminal of 5G GSM will be released at the end of 2020; in 2021, the scale of 5G GSM terminal will be developed.
In order to accelerate the realization of the established goals, operators and terminal, chip, device, instrument and other industrial partners have conducted in-depth cooperation on the 5G GSM terminal frequency band and roaming needs, 5G GSM terminal technical specifications and other fields to develop 5G GSM terminal products and launch 5G GSM Terminal GTI certification.
GTI is an international industrial cooperation platform initiated by China Mobile, Softbank, Vodafone and other operators in 2011. After 9 years of development, GTI currently has 136 operator members and 239 industry partners. In February 2016, the Barcelona Summit officially launched GTI 2.0, committed to continuously promoting 4G evolution, 5G development and cross-industry joint innovation.
